Bukit Bintang New Year Charity KK Super Mart Distribute Goodies To The Needy And Elderly

KUALA LUMPUR, BUKIT BINTANG - The Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall (KLCAH) and Bukit Bintang Charity Society jointly organized its 16th BB Charity for this Chinese New Year by giving out goodies and Ang Pao to the elderly, homeless, single mother and people with disabilities.

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai, President of KLCAH and Bukit Bintang Charity Society said that this activity has been organized for fifteen years. The last event was held in 2020 which benefited 1800 people. Unfortunately, the large-scale function has to be cancelled due to the pandemic for the past two years.

“We will not resume the large-scale function this year as what we did on previous year due to the risk of pandemic that still existed. However, for this year we are still managed to help 600 needy by giving out our goodies and Ang Pao through various channel,” said by Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai.

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai emphasized that this metropolis might look bustling but there are still many people who lives below the poverty line. As a Non-Governmental Organization, BB Charity Society insist on playing the charitable role, by assisting in needs to enjoy the festive celebration during Chinese New Year.

“BB Charity event was a vivid carnival before the pandemic, KLCAH will definitely resume hosting the large-scale New Year charity event for the needy and elderly,” he added.

He also hopes that the new government pay more attention to these vulnerable group of people by implementing various policies to let them have a better living quality. The homeless in Kuala Lumpur has been an issue for decades. We urge Federal Government to look for a shelter for them.

In addition, many local social media influencers and one of the influencer from Indonesia did a live broadcast on this meaningful charity event that fully expressed the kindness of Malaysia spirit.

Referring to the reopen boarders for China, President Chai believes that a positive approach to welcome China Tourists by implementing standard operating procedure to all tourist will be helpful to reduce the risk of major pandemic outbreak.

“The government should have a vigorous view on this issue as it will boost our tourism industry and revitalize our economy as well. KLCAH hopes that the arrival of China tourists can stimulate the recovery of our tourism industry as it has been a down time for three years after all,” he added.

According to the data, Malaysia is expecting 1 million to 1.5 million tourists from China will travel to our country as China announced to reopens its borders on the 8th of this month. Nevertheless, estimate RM7.5 billion will generate in tourism revenue by referring to the spending power of China tourists in 2019, with the average of RM5000 from each of them.

President Chai said, “The 1.5 million China tourists are equivalent to half of the number in 2019 before the pandemic (the number of tourist from China visiting Malaysia in 2019 was 3.1 million).”

He also hopes that the government will maintain the expenditures as much as possible including various assistance funds, especially the expenses in tourism industry for the Budget 2023, which will be presenting in the Parliament in February 24.

“As what we have seen so far on current unity government, the ministers are actually listening to the opinions from the public, understand the livelihood of the people, which is quite satisfied by the people. The Minister of Local Government Development Nga Kor Ming, announced that an estimation of RM100 million will be spent on the identified 260 urban beatification and greening projects, to spruce up Kuala Lumpur into an international metropolis, which is a good news for our national capital.
